Twyford Village Booklet
The parish originally included Colden Common until that hamlet became a parish in its own right. The village name is derived from the Old English name of tuifyrde, meaning two fords.
The area had been settled over the early centuries, proven by the various finds of Neolithic flints, Bronze Age barrows, an Iron Age settlement and a Roman villa.
