Otterbourne, (VB109) is a small parish 4 miles south of Winchester and 8 miles north of Southampton.
The River Itchen meanders from north to south and forms the eastern boundary with the main railway line from London to Southampton and the M3 motorway following in the same direction. The land in the east is largely water meadows with farm land in the middle, and woods and parkland in the west. The south part of the old parish with hamlets Allbrook and Boyatt Wood was later moved into Eastleigh.
Among the local family names appearing across the centuries are NOICE/NOYCE, WARHAM/WAREHAM, WHITE, WHITEHEAD and YONGE.
