Bramshaw Village Booklet
The Bramshaw village booklet (VB077) by researcher Roy Montgomery is another excellent and detailed exploration of this Hampshire village and the parish of St Peter.
Bramshaw is situated just inside the New Forest 7 miles south-west of Romsey and 7 miles north-east of Ringwood.
References to Bramshaw documents, records and photographs held at the Hampshire Record Office are given throughout, together with useful website addresses for more information.
The booklet includes a map and is packed with historical information about churches, schools and contiguous parishes. Numerous local surnames including those of landowners, priests, farmers, inn keepers and school masters are also included. This booklet is a valuable resource for anyone with ancestors from the area or who plan to visit the village. Were your ancestors a member of the Iron Chapel, later the Fritham United Free Chapel, or perhaps employed in the manufacture of gunpowder that began in the 1850s at Eyeworth Lodge?
